extending the forum time

#1

Post by collectors » Fri Oct 26, 2018 10:51 am

Hi, any chance of extending the login time. I have had it a couple of times when writing a post & lets say the phone rings or you make a cup of tea & come back to the forum it wants you to login again. No problem, but then you find anything you have wrote has gone. Think it set a bit to short.

I have never been logged out. I have logged myself out but otherwise I’m always here.

Hi
I have double checked the forums settings and as I thought there is no time lime set. The control board for the forum shows Zero minutes which means there is no log out time limit...

What browser are you using? IE is know to cause time out issues.

I’m sure we have had something similar to this on the old forum and it turned out the users PC/tablet was doing the logging out.

Hi Brian, strange, Its happened using an Acer laptop with Google chrome as a browser. I will try on the other laptop as it has windows & the Firefox browser. Tend to use the Google chrome as its a lot faster than many other browsers for the internet.

As a test, I've had a post open for just over 45 minutes. While my PC screen went to sleep during this time as soon as I touched the mouse I could continue to type in the text box that I'd left previously. I'm currently using a desktop PC running Windows 10 and the browser is Google Chrome..

Have you ticked the "Remember me" tick box when you logged in?
I stay logged in for days at a time without being logged out using Chrome on my android tablet.
I don't model anything in particular, I just play trains.
Why can't people spell "gauge" correctly?
