Hello all
Another newbie joins the locomotive roster at Little Weldon. This is Canadian Pacific No 1218. This particular model is a replica of the Meccano Ltd No 1215. The original HD product was made for export only, so is therefore one of the rarer items in the range. The replica has been made from an extremely battered Duchess of Atholl as were the original models. Like all of her cousins she runs like a dream easily coping with the heaviest train on Little Weldon. I am particularly pleased that the Cow Catcher does not foul anything as this is a notorious problem on both original's and replica's alike.

Hello all
The painting of Little Weldon's Castle has started with the Bailey Wall. I have chosen to use acrylics for this, as the Castle is constructed using plaster these are drying quickly enabling a rapid build up of layers. I have used a warm cream as a base coat this has given a lovely colour for the Mortar. Upon this I have applied several dry brush coats of a mid brown varying the amount applied, building up the colour in some areas. Over this I have dry brushed two different yellows again varying the quantity of paint build up. The next stage has been to pick out random stones with a dark brown followed by another brown between mid and dark. Finally I have used a very dry brush of black over the whole wall.

Hello all
Painting is on going up at Castle Hill. The Keep is the next piece that I have been working on over the last few evenings.

Hello all
This month 81 years ago sees the introduction of Hornby Dublo.
Here is the cover of the first catalogue for 1938/9. Production was halted during 1940 for the duration of the second world war, restarting in 1948 those early post-war models were for export only it took some time before they were available on the home market. Some items from the pre war range were never reintroduced post war the clockwork versions of the locomotives along with the associated track work and the articulated Teak Coaches.

Happy 81st Birthday Hornby Dublo.

Hello all
Work is continuing on Little Weldon's Castle with all of the Bailey Walls, the Keep and Watch Tower all attached the baseboard. Flooring has now been added to the Keep. The pieces have been set into the landscape with plaster applied to plug any gaps. The final landscaping has yet to be done. The next piccies will be of the completed project.
I would appreciate it if any of you have any ideas on how I could possibly achieve my plan of a misty atmosphere around the ruined keep. The Hornby smoke unit which I purchased to experiment with does not produce a fan of smoke which is more in line with the effect that I am after. When I have introduced a flue to achieve this the smoke dissipates to much before it reaches the hillside. The unit itself is housed in the Watch Tower the aim was to have the smoke coming out from under the elevation facing the Keep and to gently roll up the hill to its base.
I appreciate that the unit was not designed for this use so I will probably use it in the Sand Dryers chimney.
Thanks for all your kind words about Little Weldon's Castle project.

Hello all
Little Weldon's Castle is now open to the public. Works having been completed just a short while ago. Delores a lady citizen with negotiable affection is amongst the first visitors she also seems to have a new man with her. There have been reports of a rather elegantly dressed white haired gentleman leaving a Police box which has mysteriously just arrived. He seems rather frantic and keeps asking after somebody called Jo.

Hello all
I've been experimenting with lighting on Little Weldon's up platform. I feel that it needs a bit of fine tuning but the initial results are encouraging. Once I have wired up the down platform and buildings and maybe some street lighting I shall look at dimming then down a touch.

Hello all
After a successful afternoon yesterday all of Little Weldon station and its immediate vicinity have now been lit. There is still a little tweaking to do here and there but overall I am happy with the results. I have ordered a dimming control and are awaiting its delivery. Just the rest of the layout to tackle next, this will have to be done in stages. Although I now have a clearer idea of the quantities of leds that I need I shall order enough to complete this project.
