#1

Post by TEAMYAKIMA » Tue Jul 02, 2019 8:08 am

Twickenham & District MRC meets every Friday in its large well appointed clubroom on the Whitton/Hounslow border.

We currently have layout in N, OO, O and N gauge tram layout as well.

There are regular 'extra' Saturday work days so that layouts can make quicker progress.

There is an annual Open Day, Summer BBQ and annual Club Lunch.

Full details can be found here www.tdmrc.org.uk

Currently Twickenham MRC has three N gauge projects - BATTY MOOR our well established exhibition layout, MILTON our members' modular project and SIEGE STREET our N gauge tramway layout.

2019 will see the start of a new N gauge layout. Are YOU interested in getting involved in a new N gauge layout? Why not come down to our Open Day on July 13th and meet the team?

Here is a recent photo of MILTON …..

Twickenham MRC's open day was a great success - photos to be posted later.

As a 'follow up' the club is holding a BBQ social this Friday and everyone who enjoyed our Open Day is invited to join us and meet the club members in a more relaxed atmosphere!

Also we will be setting up our Multi Gauge Running Track and all our guests are invited to bring down a train or loco to run - we cater for ALL gauges from Z to Gauge 1 - including 'S' , 3 rail OO and 3 rail O !

So whatever you model come and join us this Friday from 7.30

Partners, wives, friends all invited too - it's a social!

Just a quick reminder that all potential members are invited to join us for our Summer BBQ social this Friday from 7.30pm.

And PLEASE bring something to run on our Multi Gauge Running Track - it can cope with 14 different gauges from Z to G!

That's right FOURTEEN different gauges including 3 rail OO and 3 rail O!

And to show you, here is a photo from a previous open day ………………..

Some nice layouts there, I particularly like the double sided N gauge one.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician

Just a quick update from Twickenham & District MRC

Obviously our clubroom has been shut since March, but club life goes on! Newsletters, virtual quiz nights and online support has meant that the club has held together and continued to support its members.

However, the new situation we find ourselves in has meant the cancellation of our two big events in 2020 - our OPEN DAY and our 'pop-up' exhibition in Twickenham Library. These two annual events are both our shop window to attract new members and our main fund-raising opportunity.

With fund-raising via these events off the agenda in 2020 the committee has looked for new ways to help fund the club and we are now filling that financial hole by selling donated items on ebay. Members have been very generous, but we are now running out of donated items to sell ...............

Does anyone reading this have any unwanted models (or toy trains) they would be prepared to donate to Twickenham club to help it through these difficult times. Maybe some old trains you re-discovered in your attic during a lockdown sort out? Maybe some items left over from an abandoned project?

If anyone is able to help our club please let us know - we can arrange collection across a wide area of London and the South East.

Twickenham MRC is flying the flag of modelling in SW London and looks forward to holding meetings and events ASAP in 2021 - we thank you for your support.
