Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!

I've just bought a new laptop - so hopefully now back in the land of the living! Have now to get everything downloaded from the dead laptop. Life will be back to normal in the next few days.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!

The Peco 3rd rail chairs were originally designed for Code 75 track - so the spacers are intended for use with Code 100 track. Using the measurements included and comparing with a Hornby class 73 diesel/electric pick-ups the 3rd rail was fitted. However, when the Hornby 2-hAL was placed on the track...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!

I've fitted one length of 3rd rail to the main line in the station area. It's a pretty fiddly job threading the chairs onto the rail. However I found by filing the bottom flange of the rail to a bit of a point the chairs slipped on easily. The instructions suggest that the insulator should be white,...

Re: Your latest acquisition

Nice one John - I was after Hornby 222 Squadron on ebay this week - it was a light hearted effort though - I put a bid in with a few seconds to go, and was outbid by £2 - there will be others. Barry

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!

Magnets fitted - it was a simple job removing the ballast, but a b***er of a job removing the self-adhesive cork underlay. For anyone reading this for the first time - "ALWAYS PLAN IN ADVANCE" - it makes life a little easier. BB

Cold, windy and wet in Hampshire - since lunch-time it's been chucking it down.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!

No pictures yet, but I'm now doing some of the jobs I should have done two years ago - like fitting magnets for the Kadees under the main-line about a loco's length from the buffer stops in the station - so a bit of ballast removal. Also the third-rail (Code 60 - Z Gauge) and fittings have now arriv...
