Palace Gates

As a kid in the early 60s I biked it or got the N2 from Palmers Green to Wood Green station to see the A4s,A1s, Deltics etc. I saw Madoqua and Nyala B1s so often I hated them. Will one day get the models after saving up some pennies. Anyway, sometimes I went to Palace Gates which was on its last leg...

Re: Will need some help

Thanks Mick, I have got a few engines and carriages in 00 so will at least start with that and I have to get some track, probably flexible and points. Looking at N, it would be better for my limited space but so expensive and limited. I'll see how it goes. Friendly-ish, seems ok so far even after a ...

Re: My thoughts on a folding baseboard

I'd better clarify. I will put a surround of 18x34mm round the board, the hinges(paste table type) will be attached to the side of the surround and as in a paste table the legs are inside the surround when closed likewise the track will be. Can't post a photo of the paste table  I think most, ...

Re: My thoughts on a folding baseboard

Hello Roger,
I will use the same hinge as on a paste table, Fitted on the side walls, which will provide a gap between the bases, should work the same way methinks.
10x2 could be an idea, a nice length for shunting, Lots to ponder.
Thanks

My thoughts on a folding baseboard

Hi, I'm thinking of a folding baseboard 8'x3' with the joint at 4'. It will be 9mm ply and constructed just like an inverted wallpaper paste board with hinges the same and closing to protect the track. It will be on trestles. Thinking of a couple of flat steel bars bolted under the join to stop it s...

Re: Will need some help

Thanks for the replies. MG, I chose 8x3 for space saving , not a lot of room here and I'm thinking more end to end than having a circuit but it's all open at the moment and views are very welcome. Interesting points made and I didn't realise there were many more than 00 and N. Thanks for the info. I...

Will need some help

Hello, I'm Rob and new to this having never got past the point of an oval and a couple of sidings on the table(many years ago I should add). I found my old Wrenn N2 in a drawer and thought it would be nice to give it a new lease of life. My plans are 8'x3' portable base split into 2 4'x3'. I'll put ...
