Re: Live steam section

That's unfair, Montfort, Brian (FB), will acknowledge a yay or nay, when he has weighed up the pro's and con's to see if it would be in the forums interest for such a topic, as what i suggested covers a whole plethora of steam vehicles and situations, FB will let us know once he has had time to thin...

Re: Capacitor on carriage lights

they will be fine, i have around 30 or so on my layout at any one time most with 2200uf caps,

@ footeplate, caps work like batterys and will gradually lose power, it mainly depends on demand, if compared to a cdu the demand is greater so the discharge rate is much faster,

Re: The new layout

Good for you and your OH John, i can't believe how negative you lot can be, what's the worst that can happen, apart from John losing his layout and the missus claiming it for herself

Re: Bridge Rectifier with no markings ?

blimey! 600v, what are you powering, i use DFO1S rated at 100v 1 amp to be more than adequate for model railway use, and those ones you linked to are expensive, if you are prepared to wait for a week or more, find a chinese supplier and get a 100 or more for the same price,

Re: Enamel paint

I use either painters touch by rustoleum, was available from homebase till my local one closed, or polyvine enamel which i get from craftmill, out of the two polyvine has a greater colour range, but the larger 100ml size is limited in colours, but i find these ones very cost effective and average ar...

Re: Small, Medium or Large.

I would define a layout size on area rather than dimension, eg an 8 x 4 is considered small but if you had a 16 x 2 end to end that could be considered as large, yet they both have the same area 32 sq ft, so in this regard i would consider layouts up 40 sq ft as small, 40-100 sq ft as medium, and 10...

Re: Old Threads

I have all my photos backed up on an external hard drive, so no problem doing new threads on lost topics, another advantage with this new forum, is the ability to save drafts, so compiling longer threads or how to's etc, can be created then posted when finished, so helps to keep the thread sequentia...
