Re: Converting 0-4-0 and others

A short circuit (or partial short circuit) can be present on DCC with a decoder fitted that doesn't exist on dc. Often caused by bad factory soldering on the wiring connections of the DCC socket, sometimes just a very fine trace of solder between two adjacent pins, so check the underside of the DCC ...

Re: electrofrog points

You can use normal rail joiners if they are dead end sidings as you say.

Re: Bi LED's with straight legs

What I normally do with all LEDs is to drill the hole in the panel so that the LED is a close fit and use a dab of Evo Stik or araldite to hold it secure. Avoids having to use holders.

Re: Which Hornby Locos have 21 pin DCC Sockets fitted?

I don't think all DCC ready models had 8 pin sockets, some may have 4 pin or, very recently, 6 pin sockets. 21 pin sockets were used on sound fitted models before the TTS decoders came along. You could look up the service sheets to see what sockets are fitted. Lendons of Cardiff have a very comprehe...

Re: No reverse

It's not unknown for someone to think a decoder is installed when it's actually a blanking plug they are looking at.

PS Welcome to the forum Toby.

Re: Heljan Class 28 CO BO

Two possibilities. 1. Reverse the wiring connections on the motor. 2. Alter CV29. You really need to read CV29 to find out it's value. If that value is even, then add 1 to it and write that value back to CV29. If it is an odd number, subtract 1 from that value and write it back to CV29. Sounds more ...

Re: DCC chips and sound

Usually sound chips do everything. There are some some sound only chips which can be used to add sound to a loco that already has a non sound DCC chip installed. These tend to be generic sounds which aren't specific to any particular loco, usually having diesel and steam sounds on the same chip. You...

Re: 8 pin blanking plug

I don't have any spare blanking plugs but they are available to buy if other members can't help.

Having said that, I see they are out of stock at most places for some reason.
