Re: Paint shaker idea for Steve!

Just attach the bottle to an ordinary jigsaw blade with a strong elastic band wrapped round a few times, it's not a new idea.

Re: How to alter speeds

The acceleration and deceleration can be adjusted by CVs 3 & 4. Increasing values make the locos accelerate faster or decelerate more slowly.

Maximum speed can be limited by CV5 if your decoder allows you to control this CV. Some decoders, such as the Hornby R8249 don't.

Re: 3.3v LEDs on DCC locos

Just use a 1K (1000 ohm) resistor, it'll be near enough. If that's a bit too bright use a higher value.

Re: DCC80 and NCE PowerCab issues

British Powercabs have been supplied with a number of different power supplies over the years. Mine, bought a couple of years ago, is 13.8Volt at 1.8Amps.

Definitely do not use a supply higher than 15volts.

Re: Section Switches on DCC

Doing what you are thinking about is fairly common. The changeover switch should ideally have a centre off position to prevent any possibility of the two systems coming into contact as the switch is operated and to isolate the tracks from the controllers for fault finding and suchlike. Remember to r...
