Re: The Shankly and Gdynia Railway

Hi Chops, Like Shakespeare, you've added a new word to the English Language; the verb 'to shank' - here used in the passive voice - presumably meaning something like 'to be mildly pleased or satisfied'. If only that were true... A lot of golfers are only too familiar with the verb and it definitely...

Re: My first layout

I can run two trains at the same time on my layout and although it's a bit fiddly to set up (because my staging yards are only accessible from one loop) it definitely adds interest to see trains passing and on a large layout it means there's often two different points of interest. I think for roundy...

Re: Metcalfe card N

I've several and agree that they are very good. I have two small engine sheds, a farm house and a barn. I have a large barn yet to assemble. https://i.postimg.cc/Z93XPSMZ/20211001-092559.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/SYp9XWzk/20211003-110050.jpg Although that does remind me that I was going to touch the ...

Re: Circularium

I think my faces work from a distance and because it's N-scale I can get away with a lot. People don't generally get too close looking for detail because they know it's too small. I'm not sure that my results would be good enough for larger scales where people like to get in close and personal :)

Re: Circularium

Oh, just for clarity that rock face in the post above this one is not one of mine. That's the kind of thing I was really aiming for but didn't quite achieve. Still, if you like what I did manage here's how I did it: https://i.postimg.cc/QFC2PxgD/20210718-090626.jpg Modroc for the basic shape. The to...

Re: My first layout

Looks pretty good so far. Seems like you might actually have a station, which is more than I have :D

Re: Circularium

Glad you like it. Yes, I love the cutting by the stone embankment. Still not sure quite how it came out that well. Wilf's Junction is pretty good as well. I still haven't managed to achieve the 'natural rock' look I really wanted: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_05_2013/post-9960-0...

Re: Problems with couplers (Rapido)

Since leaving my rolling stock coupled all the time I've had no further problems. Not sure why but after leaving my stock out all summer I can now run any train for as long as I want with no risk of uncoupling.

So the nights are drawing in and evening golf is no longer practical. That means the start of a new modelling season. It's been a long time since I last posted here but no, I didn't abandon the hobby. I fixed the problem locos I had (no track relaying needed) and at the end of last season moved all ...

Re: Another issue :(

I can’t help but think it’s the track not the loco. A combination of incline, transition from flat to slope and a curve all at the same point - no wonder the bogie can’t cope, it’s not designed to. 100% correct Steve, the OP has trouble with just about everything he touches, i think hes modelling t...
