Re: Tracking a train position on a layout to a mimic board/map

What you are looking for is track occupancy detector, so that is the key phrase you need to search for. There are no shortage of these on the market, but usually they require some sort of electrical connection between the loco and the track. Typically they will sense the increase in current in a sec...

Re: Station Design - Distance Between Tracks

I believe in the real world the distance between tracks in stations should be at least 4.5 metres. The width of platforms I think depends on the individual stations, but I am happy to be corrected. I would strongly recommend the Metcalfe platform kits. They allow you to build a platform that exactly...

Re: Loco only runs in one direction, and at full speed.

Well got my SPROG II out of storage with the intention of doing a reset on the decoder. However, prior to doing that I gave the decoder plug a gentle clean and low and behold it now works! I also took a look at the fixing screw previously mentioned and it does get perilously close to the circuit boa...

I did this before running it so I don't know it's effect.
Well that is interesting?

Re: WEST ORTON

Interesting. My wife bought some wooden clothes pegs recently in Sainsbury's, the type with the metal coil spring. About 60% of them work, the rest stay open when you squeeze them. It is as if the spring is made of lead! :)

Re: Loco only runs in one direction, and at full speed.

I didn't think you can fit Next18 decoders the wrong way? Anyway, if you fit it the other way round the decoder would stick out the front of the loco.

Loco only runs in one direction, and at full speed.

I have a Bachmann Webb coal tank loco that has been running fine on DC. I have run it on DCC, but switched back to DC while I sorted my track out. Today I refitted the decoder (Zimo Next18) and tried to run it. However, no matter what setting the controller is it will only run in one direct, and at ...
