Re: Road sign

Camels are big beasts, even the Outback Truckers are wary of them. (You can see them on the TV series, Outback Truckers quite frequently). They're also quite wary of the wild cattle and kangaroos! I think everyone in Australia is wary of every everything! Never mind the the fauna, they have a tree ...

Re: Suitable decoder for Bachmann class 08

Well the the TCS decoder has arrived and duly fitted. It is quite a bit smaller than the Zimo and I will certainly consider it for future applications. Having the keep alive option is a bonus, but I don't actually think there is space in the 08 for a keep alive. https://i.postimg.cc/LqQy9c53/IMG-366...

If he is to be believed, he very rarely gets free stuff from manufacturers. I suspect he must have a day job as he doesn't seem to make that much from his channel.

Re: Suitable decoder for Bachmann class 08

I have taken another look at the situation and there is no way the Zimo MX600R will fit.

So I have ordered a DP2X-UK-KA from TCS. So if it doesn't fit Mr Parkes owes me twenty five quid! ;)

Re: Being clever with Hornby R047 switches and R618 isolating track

I learned the hard way! I got a track pin pusher, but it’s difficult to control. I ended-up driving the pins fully in whilst not meaning to. My first experience of laying track many, many years ago I was advised not to hammer the pins in, but use a pin pusher instead. I got one that had a spring so...

Re: Suitable decoder for Bachmann class 08

I think the speaker ended up behind the radiator and the decoder to the side of the motor. I have seen a fitting guide online that involves removing the existing PCB and mounting brackets then hardwiring the decoder. That would probably give room for the speaker behind the grill, but it seems other...

I am a big fan of Sam, I find him very entertaining and usually informative. There is also a Canadian guy I like with the channel SMT Mainline.

Re: Suitable decoder for Bachmann class 08

Gaugemaster DCC29 8 pin Direct or Zimo MX616R Micro DCC 8 PIN wired decoder maybe. I did wonder about a direct pin type, Hattons do their own for £17, but they seem to deeper than a standard decoder and worry that might create another problem. The MX616R should fit, but would it handle the current ...
