The HFTC will do exactly what you are reporting. The arc is intended to burn away the dirt on wheels... you'd be better served by regular use of a decent track rubber and a follow up if IsoPropyl Alcohol. (AKA ipa... but didn't want to confuse with Ale... ) for the track and a fibre pen for ALL stoc...

if you can get to the PCB, You'll be able to see which way round the diodes are and work it based on that....

other services such as dropbox may be a suitable alternative. files are easily stored and shared with readable links.

a basic account is free and starts with 2GB of space. other services may give you more.

Hi How is your layout wired? are you using a single looped bus, or feeding in 'star' pattern? It stands to reason that the problem is in those two crossovers... have you put IRJ's between both rails of each point, separating the two circuits, or just on the frog rails? my uneducated guess is thats w...

My 'go to' iron is the Antex XS25W with Silicone cable... it just works.

Used to use a spade type tip but recently converted to a point tip... it can take a little longer to heat the components (tinning the iron will prevent this), I get far better results!
