Why do we need another service tracking what we are doing, just to give us what we already have? But it's not tracking you. It calculates where you are when you ask it to. My main issues with this app are that it apparently needs an internet connection to work out where you are, which in isolated areas you might not have, which makes relying on this app dangerous. If you are using a smart phone you already have a precise method of getting your location... the maps app...

I'll repeat what walkingthedog said... it sounds very much like the locos need a service.

as for cleaning the track, i'd suggest getting some Isopropyl Alcohol 95% or more from amazon, and clean the rails with a small amount on a lint free cloth.

Yes if you want to prevent polarity/shorting issues, you'll want to have your frog/vee rails on all your points on IRJ's.

also ensure that your power feeds are at the trailing end of the points.

Out of the two, i'd suggest the mdf.... mainly cos the shelving is still useful as that! mdf will be fine as long as it is properly supported from the underside and is protected from moisture. it's not unusual to use repurposed or recycled materials for railway building... it does save money. my own...
