Re: West Somerset Railway in trouble!

Re: Painting and Weathering Service

Hi Steve
Boiler bands as shown seems to be the standard so please leave them as they are. I can't think of anything to help re the lining on the running plate -
it's very conspicuous .
You're doing a grand job - it looks really nice :D

Re: Painting and Weathering Service

Hi Steve Looks good, in particular the coal level in the tender. The FOX transfers appear to be good although I've never used them. I got some Change Identity packs from Modelmasters a couple of years ago - haven't used them yet, but they look good.. SWMBO is in the middle of a 'purge' in the loft, ...

Re: 11/11/11 Lest we forget.

Hi Mr Bones Thanks for the correct words for the hymn/prayer. Sailors have a lot of superstitions etc such as the reaction on your ship, re the sinking of the Belgrano which shore-side people find difficult to understand. The auctioning of the kit of a dead messmate, the proceeds to be gifted to the...

Re: 11/11/11 Lest we forget.

Most poignant to me are the headstones marked 'An unknown soldier.... etc'. Many years ago I recall reading part of a German naval hymn - On a Sailors Grave no roses grow. I don't know any more, I don't even recall if I saw any more of it. However, it has stayed in my mind for all these years. I alw...

Re: Painting and Weathering Service

Hi Steve
I'm a lot better than I was. Hopefully I'll get the Black 5 off to you next week and I'll include a couple of photos and a drawing of the Stanier cab.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service

Hi Steve I hope you have 'dried out' after our outing on Friday. SWMBO thinks we were mad staying out in that weather but she and her friend spent even longer tramping the shops of East Grinstead. So who was the real daft one? How much to fully line the Black 5 (bearing in mind there is lining under...

Hi WTD

I should hang on to that copy of The Times. It sounds as thought it could be a first edition and worth a couple of bob

Re: NYMR autumn steam gala 2019

Hi Steve
Had the same thing when I went to the Gloucester/Warks with WTD. Should have known better - go out with him and it always rains.
My household contents insurance paid up very quickly.
