Station Design - Distance Between Tracks

Hi folks, Hope everyone's had a good week :) I'm just starting to lay some parallel tracks with the idea of slowly creating a 'station'. I see on ebay that there's various different options available for station platforms - Gaugemaster/Dapol etc. I would definitely like to eventually have some lovel...

Re: Track-Laying Newbie Stuck on Corners

Thanks for all your responses, everyone. Super helpful!

Yep, it's 00 gauge. I shall proceed with ordering myself a Tracksetta, a Xuron, and some needle files.

Much appreciated :)

Track-Laying Newbie Stuck on Corners

Hi everyone, New to this whole track-laying business and feeling like a bit of a veg to be having to ask this question, but what's the trick to laying corners correctly? First time around I thought I'd done ok, but then discovered that some of my corners were too tight, consequently all of my engine...

Re: Lack of Power

Yeah the controller does hum!

The connection is as it came out of what it was boxed up in, but I have a good de/soldering machine so I'm happy to have a fiddle about and see if that makes any difference.

If I try the other controller is it just some sort of low-voltage 2 core cable I need to buy?

Lack of Power

Hi guys, I've just assembled the track I had when I was young, which has been in storage for the last 25 years. Apologies for the stupidity of my question, but this is my first time having to worry about this stuff - it was all done for me in the past! I've built a simple loop and tried to connect i...

Re: Legs for Baseboard?

Thanks for your advice, everyone. That was all really useful. I'm intending for my layout to be a permanent one, so folding legs aren't required. Using advice from here I've now managed to get six legs attached, but not yet braced. I like the adjustable feet/levelling screws idea, but that's not som...

Legs for Baseboard?

Hi all, Newbie here (well, as an adult, it's been many decades!) I've just built a baseboard 2440mm x 1220mm using the vids on Hornby's site, but I'm wondering how best to go about putting legs onto it. I'd like it to be desk height, and while knocking together the baseboard was relatively easy, I'm...

A genuine thank you to everybody who posted a reply! There was some really wonderful info in there. Thank you again everyone, I very much appreciate it! I shall go do some research and hope to be able to, at some point over the next few months, come back with an update on my first setup in a long lo...

Returning to Railways

Hi everyone, I had a 00 setup when I was a child, but when my parents decided to convert our loft it got dismantled, packed into boxes, and put into storage. Years later I've got a place big enough to have my own man-cave, and am planning on digging out my old bits and pieces and setting it all up a...
