You could find out the the prices by searching ebay sold section. simples. Enter the make and model number and the prices are before your eyes. Do not offer them for sale here until you have followed the forum rules or the thread will be removed.

Mr Smith the loco needs a 6 function decoder to work correctly, the Lenz silver + is a 5 function BUT a 6 is needed for all lights to work correctly.

Clive, dont forget to reset your Lenz decoder before you fit it to another loco. :)

Yes you do need a 6 function decoder the lenz is only a 4 function, the dapol one works but shop around they can be bought cheaper elsewhere. Hattons now do a 21 pin 6 function decoder,( im yet to try one )

I personally have never needed a booster, my last layout was 30ft x 16ft with a lot of track, and i could run more locos than i felt safe with, you need several pairs of eyes :) . So if you get to the stage that your drawing too much power add a booster then. Running more than one sound loco at a ti...

The scale would help as gauges vary with motor draw, do you what to run sound locos ?. A standard powercab will easily run 4/5 locos at once unless all sound fitted. The size of your layout is also important. If you can control more than 4 locos at one time your doing well :)
