Front steps Hornby Q1

Despite looking I am unable to locate a source of replacement front steps for a Hornby Q1. Given the frequency of advertisements on EBay for locos with missing or damaged ones they are clearly a vulnerable item. Does anyone know a source I may have missed?

Re: NCE powercab and JMRI

Thank you Brian that makes sense and motivates me to download and play with JMRI before deciding finally whether to use it.

Re: NCE powercab and JMRI

I have already given all the points and signals a number to make full use of the powercab. It was a bit of a hassle but once done together with the setting up of the macros it does make the operation easier. I struggle to get my old brain around setting double slips in particular and doing it once t...

NCE powercab and JMRI

I run my terminus to fiddleyard layout with a powercab which controls locos, points and signals. I use macros to set routes Having a spare laptop which currently runs windows 10 but could equally run linux I have thought about running JMRI and acquiring the necessary NCE interface to link the laptop...

Macros

I control my small layout using a NCE PowerCab. I find one of the most useful features is macros but also find I am slightly limited by the maximum of 15 macros of limited length. If I were to want to have more / longer macros what would be a good system as I note some competitor systems do not ment...

New Rails / Dapol OO terrier

Things have gone awfully quiet notwithstanding talk of November and Warley a month ago. Is the release going to happen this weekend? When will despatch of the preorders start? Hopefully precedence will be given to those who paid their deposit!

Curses - replacement of tender plug needed

Noting erratic running of one of my two Hornby T9’s I note that one of the connecting wires has detached from the tender plug. As it appears impossible to return it I have ordered a new plug and harness. I am not a stranger to hard wiring non DCC locos for DCC and without having yet removed the body...

Re: Correct colour for structures and fittings

DOH!! Why didn’t I think to look there? Thank you LC&DR - sitting on my bookshelves is you, guessed it- a copy of Southern Nouveau with 40 pages on painting a wide variety of different items. I had bought the book some time ago and obviously have neglected to peruse it through to the last chapter. I...

Re: Just ruined my XU2175M XURON TRACK CUTTER

I made the same mistake cutting the pins on Cobalt motors. I now use a cheap B&Q cross cutter . Pins are cut with the motor in situ and tested to be working OK. If any further height reduction is needed a cheap Dremel type drill and grinding attachment are deployed. Incidentally I have found a local...
