Re: Hornby turntable

Just an update. Managed to get the TT apart. Had to lift a few rails, took my base out from underneath, unscrewed the centre screw and then managed to take the rotating section out. A test on the centre contact strips indicated a discontinuity between one and the incoming rail. Further inspection re...

Re: Hornby turntable

Tried the check on the rails on the TT. The fault must be inside. Checked the continuity of both rails. One was okay. Turned the TT round by 180 set and the other rail was then faulty. So it would seem that the one supplied with one polarity is at fault.

Re: Hornby turntable

Thank you very much Rog (RJ) for the service sheet. Extremely helpful. Thanks also to Davreb05. Finally managed to get the lid off. With the help given I was able to get the gears sorted out. The "grease" (more like glue!) in the unit was adding resistance to a area that the unit was having a little...

Re: Hornby turntable

Well I tried to get this thing apart. It did not budge. I pushed, pulled and prodded in every direction I could think of. Short of hitting it with a hammer and chisel I don't see any alternative other than taking it off the layout. If I don't get it to work I don't know if it will be good idea to re...

Re: Hornby turntable

WTD, thanks again.I will try this tomorrow. As the TT is not working well it won't matter if I break it (although it would be a pain if I did). If I can't get this thing off I think I will have no option than to take the TT out, along with all the mess of breaking into track already lain. Fingers cr...

Re: Hornby turntable

Thanks WTD. I can get the operation hut off by just unclipping it but I need to get into the motor/gear section to check all is well. Does the "maroon" base just unclip as well?

Re: Hornby turntable

Thanks RAF96 I have seen this on the Hornby forum. Looks as though I am not the only one to have this problem. What they don't say on the forum is how to take the thing apart to get to the gears etc. Advice on how to get into the motor and gearbox section would be appreciated.

Hornby turntable

I have been having problems with my Hornby TT. It stalls between track sections with the motor assuming the stall hum. Could be a problem with the gearing or something preventing movement. It also could be something to do with the temp cutout. Could someone tell me how to take this thing apart to ch...

Model Rail Scotland 2019

Visited the exhibition again this year. Have been going for the last five years. Considered this year as a bit of a disappointment. There were more traders this year, taking up most of the area. Never seen so many book sellers at an event as this one. Maybe it is a sign of the times with so many sma...
