Re: WEST ORTON

I agree Brian. They look ok on the bench but definitely out of scale one on the roof. The good news is that the resin is quite easy to file o cut on the bandsaw, so I should be able to reduce the component parts to give a more correct look.
That’s for tomorrow. :D

Re: WEST ORTON

Much of the roof is now in place after some head scratching. I had to spend some time thinning the roof castings with a sander but I have now learnt how to cast very thin sections. I couldn’t have done that with the resin I have used in the past but the stuff I bought for this project is very good f...

Stay safe, have fun.
Have you checked that wherever you are going will actually let you in? ;)

Very few kites down this way although we do have a breeding pair of buzzards about a mile up the road from here. Often see them circling over the garden.

Re: For the gardeners ( if we have any? )

We have the same ‘regular conversation’ with a neighbour regarding the large maple that my railway room is under.
Too much shade, too many leaves etc.
I planted the tree long before they moved in so tough luck really.

Re: WEST ORTON

Yes, SM. It’s mounted on a couple of kitchen drawer runners salvaged from a traverser. Fitted into the support frame so the baseboard can still be lifted off for maintenance.........and fitting all the point motors that I now need to find. :D

Re: WEST ORTON

Made a frame to fit around the inside of the shed at roof level along with a central support then finished fitting the roof supports - doubled up the thickness to give a wider pad for the roof sheets. Also assembled the roof vents - I made five but may not fit them all. I still need to cast a few mo...

Re: WEST ORTON

I agree very impressive - you will not require the Bachmann version now? Not needed now Barry. This one shouldn’t look too different although the paint finish will mirror the viaduct that’s already on the layout. It’s more than twice the size of a ready made shed and will be around half the price.
