Re: track clean

Is the track a straight or on a curve ?

Is the track flat or have any super elevation ?

Maybe there is wear in the wheels, pickups that cause the engine to rock slightly and lose contact with the rails ?

Re: Adjustable multi angle vice.

Been playing ! Ball adjustment very stiff, but getting easier as I use it. Useful pice of kit, I have just “”Dremel-ed”” a couple if Din 5 pin male plugs pins for soldering. I read that grinding the pins flat ( just under half thickness) made tinning and soldering the wires much easier. Once the ang...

Re: Adjustable multi angle vice.

Price for the Stanley range from £17 to £23 depending on walking into the shop and picking up to having it sent through the post. Dremel not less than £38 I have brought items from CPC Farnell which are similar to Rapid but tend to have a different and slightly wider choice of goodies. Most of my or...

Re: Adjustable multi angle vice.

Many thanks for your replies. After viewing some pretty awful, and a few decent video reports. ( What is the point of video the opening a the box when it seems fairly obvious that the presenter has little idea what a vice / vise is  ) I have decided to go for the Stanley, compared with the Dre...

Adjustable multi angle vice.

Any observations would be appreciated: I have looked at reviews which have narrowed the choice down to either; Dremel, which seems overpriced but will integrate with the drill system but reported as not being overly strong. Stanley which seems Ok but again reported as not being overly strong. Other ...

Re: Snipping rail - top to bottom? N Gauge

I found a similar problem of twisting and shedding sleepers when cutting old used flexible track with a Xuron cutter. I put it down to the track being stressed over a period of time ,, both rail and plastic bed. Further down the same length of the same rail there were no cutting problems. On some le...

Re: Home-building control panel

If you want to go down the electronics fun route, take a look at the Arduino section of the forum. There is lots to play with. Interesting bits and pieces and falls between DC and DCC. But cheaper than a commitment to the latter.

Station Stop Start and signals

Note to moderator. No offensive taken if you feel that this thread is removed because it countermand other similar thread which has been locked. ( or this comment removed) If you are looking for this type of control, a sort of halfway house between DCC and DC, there are a number of Arduino basic pro...

Re: 2 tier layout

My upper tier is 5mm ply mounted on rectangles with feet screwed to the baseboard. I phaffed about cutting the middle out of the uprights with a view to running some track under the top tier. In retrospect if I was doing it again I would experiment with insulation board 100 + 25 or 50 mm blocks. Eas...

Ardunio users ?

Just wondering if there are any other lost souls following Rudy's tutorials ? I having to stretch the little grey cells to get around some items. Just wondering if there is help here ? or some suggestion of some forums to ask on Model Rail Arduino matters. Similarly to others waiting for a jab in th...
