Brian, thank you again.
I have noted you blue line as the point to move the IRJ's to, one further question - would it make sense to to the same on the right hand side of my oval, and could I then do away with the IRJ's on the other three lines as shown?

I have read various details for and against track underlay to reduce noise when running trains. What is the general feeling, is it worth putting down a cork underlay and if so how thick, and how much of the running noise is it likely to reduce? My layout is on 12mm ply on the usual 50mm X 25mm frami...

Thank you chaps. It is funny how it is not until you start to do something that you then question is this the best way,
or can it be done a better way. Fortunately I flagged this question up after I had done only two or three pieces of track so I can easily put it right.
