Re: Small industrial layout

I have an area I would like to concrete over on my layout.
I have seen a number of different suggested ways to do this but am not sure which way to go, I am looking for further thoughts and suggestions on this please.

Baseboard, painting the top?

Should I paint the top of my 12mm ply baseboard to seal it ? (It is in a concrete sectional shed). If so with what and what colour should I paint it please? From reading various sources sealing it will be a sound idea and a dark grey matt emulsion appears popular. Any suggestions please.

Re: POWER TO MY SHED.

Dynax, can you throw any more light on (pardon the pun) on "Solar charger, leisure battery, 1000w minimum inverter," or direct me to a web site that might help - thank you.

Re: BUS WIRING QUESTION

I have been to Screwfix and obtained one. It appears to be just the job. Thank you for keeping me right.

Lads, lads, please will you all calm down a bit. Between you all, as usual, you have provided all the necessary information for me to proceed to at least getting it costed. Thank you all again.

Re: POWER TO MY SHED.

Thank you for your replies, sorry if I have misled you but I do not intend to do it myself for the reasons that you have outlined (except maybe digging the trench to 700 mm). I have already made a few enquiries and am aware of what is required and that I will need to get it done professionally. I am...

Re: BUS WIRING QUESTION

Thank you for the replies so far. With ALL Screwfix reviews I always take the review option of ‘low to high’ which gives all the not so good reviews first. Perhaps I should listen to the reviews here rather than what might be a spoiler review on Screwfix.

Re: BUS WIRING QUESTION

Thank you for your prompt answer Brian, having read the reviews of the Screwfix one you refer to I think I will give it a miss.

POWER TO MY SHED.

I have a Compton concrete sectional garage/shed which is where I have started my model railway. I am slightly hampered by not having a permanent power supply to it. I can get power to it by running a new feed from the consumer unit in my garage, along the external wall of the house, digging across t...

BUS WIRING QUESTION

I am still a novice but making progress. My question is how to remove some insulation from the bus wire to connect the dropper wires ? Normally you can just use a wire stripper and pull the insulation off the end of the wire, but when it is in the middle of a longer run how do you remove the insulat...
