Take a look at AVS4YOU. A complete suite of video and audio editors, convertors etc. Used it for all my video editing though I still prefer Audacity (free) for audio editing.

I use both reed switches and opto sensors for train detection but I don't see how you could easily use these to detect specific locos which is what you are asking for. Some time ago I joined a Facebook group called "Britain's Railways Remembered" where people post some great pictures of railway days gone by. Occassionally there are early colour pics of diesels and DMUs but mostly B&W photos of steam era. Great for giving ideas to use on your layout.
