Vandalised layouts coming to Kings Lynn

You will remember the world wide condemnation at the wanton destruction of layouts at Stamford a few weeks ago. Well the Market Deeping MRC are coming to my local show next Saturday, 22nd June. Looking forward to seeing them and other great layouts. https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/news/model-rail-vandali...

Re: Another archive film

You can see why the old steamers were high maintenance. Plenty of demarcation going on there by the look of it! Interesting bit of history.

Re: Adding sound effects to a layout

Regarding station announcements, I made a module using a Hex switch and Picaxe mpu. You just turn the knob to desired sound and press the yellow button. The Picaxe deciphers the hex code and selects the appropriate track from the TF card. I know I could probably done it without the mpu but I used as...

Re: Surface mounted point motors.

I have mounted a couple of Cobalts on top on my layout no problem. You just have to create a suitable link.

Re: D-Day Dakota fly-past

Can someone please tell me why all this is happening today? As far as I am aware June 6th 1944 was the actual day of the Normandy invasion (delayed by 24 hours because of bad weather in the channel). Today is the 5th.

Re: Adding sound effects to a layout

Looks that way. Was a little disappointed with the volume so I’ve ordered a couple of lower impedance speakers as well. I tried to increase it by increasing the sound file volume but I could hear the clipping. Possibly a mismatch in the speaker impedance. They can vary between 4 and 16 ohms in norm...

Re: Adding sound effects to a layout

Excellent, it looks like your other board may be duff then. These modules are cheap enough to have a few planted around a large layout.

Re: Adding sound effects to a layout

Referring back to my post #4 above, I just copied a couple of paras from the Picaxe manual for their mp3 player. I realise your player may be different but I suspect the controller will use the same or similar file and folder naming conventions. Anyway, it may be worth a try if nothing else works. I...
