Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.

The first thing for me to do is to try to find a simple way to fit the drawing pin buffers onto the mazak casting. I have an idea which just might work to do that. I...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.

You don't need ultra fine detail. You need consistency to give a good well presented overall look, and you have achieved that. The photos of your layout are always nice to see.

Re: Servicing old HST 125 models (rear single drive bogie)

It was the standard way of doing it and it worked ok. With DC, a slight interuption on rare occasions was not usually an issue.it is only when DCC came along that one may have issues, but if one sets the inertia to zero and possibly the back EMF to zero, it will perform just like any other DC loco w...

Yes. But my initial thought was if both points are set at the same time but I get where my thinking has gone wrong now.

Re: Reversing Loop.

Surely that only applies if all wheels are metal and there is a good chance of one of these wheels shorting out an IRJ. Yes I does. There are very few carriages or wagons sold today that have all plastic wheels. Detailing on items today demands metal wheel sets. A wheel trad will easily bridge a ga...

Re: WEST ORTON

I like it. Are you going to add more growth and maybe add some darker patches into areas of the ballast? (I realize it is a work in progress and excellent work it is too).
I really like the way your layout is built on two or more levels. It looks convincing and real.

Re: Layout for comment - first draft

It can be does via making ones own track, but it is not easy. Handbuilt points are easier to make then diamond crossings are. But I do advize to try to use short but straight diamond crossings on partial curves as a way around it if one has the room. One possible option is to get suitable angled dia...
