Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.

Mick, the lighting will make or break the picture. I don't know what you use to light pics but bounced flash gives you much more life-like appearance. Otherwise you'll struggle with shadows where there shouldn't be any. Tart it up a bit with regard to contrast/tones and should work nice regardless w...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.

I can tell you how to do it - I use a free prog called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Programme) for some stuff I do, it takes a few clicks and a workflow a bit like de-saturate>curves>channels(boost red usually...)>contrast>unsharp mask (try a couple of pixels radius...). If you use Photoshop (I don'...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.

B&W pics are very easy in most half-decent photo editing software. Just desaturate the image. You can get away with things like messing around with the contrast/tonal range etc far more than you can in colour. Kind of realism, as most steam-era images are grainy B&W. When I shot film I'd sometimes m...

Re: Hole lot of trouble

Nice Man at the Model Shop.

We have a model shop run by a lovely chap who is very helpful and shares my slightly cynical outlook on life.

Re: Scrumpy Junction

I am now scenery-ing the smaller terminus. I thought I'd build the platform before I started ballasting. This seemed like a good strategic decision, bearing in mind I don't have any ballast yet but did have a Metcalfe platform kit, which NMMS tells me many of his customers use to build their platfor...

Re: Hole lot of trouble

Thanks - I'll go and see NMMS tomorrow and purchase some plasticard with my, um, plastic.

Only trouble is every time I go and see NMMS I end up coming away with other things on top of whatever I went in for.

Hole lot of trouble

Hello All, I stuck point motors on my points, got them wired up and working (three transformers and copious amounts of single malt later...) so am now ready to have a go at ballasting. But there's, um, a little problem. Or a big one, depending how you look at it. https://i.postimg.cc/jWS2y87Z/scrump...
