Twickenham & District MRC supporting D&E modelling and seeking D&E modellers
Hi
Twickenham & District MRC has a very positive view on D&E (DIESEL & ELECTRIC) modelling in general and modern/current D&E modelling in particular. Attracting special interest members to a club is a chicken and egg situation. Modellers with a niche interest tend not to join a club unless that club has a layout targeted at their niche interest and clubs tend not to invest space and money into a niche layout until they have 2/3/4 members working in that scale/gauge. A couple of years ago the club had no dedicated hard core D&E members and so made the brave decision to kick-start D&E modelling in the club by starting a OO gauge D&E layout in the hope/belief that this would show we were serious in wanting to attract D&E members - and it's worked! So, Twickenham MRC now has a working D&E layout (EASTGATE) and has attracted several 'current scene' D&E members. Do you know I was trying to work out what the D and E stood for and for the life of me Diesel and Electric didn’t once occur to me. I wonder if I took too much medication this morning. Doh!
