If the train goes over the magnets at any speed other than "dead-slow" nothing happens. This is why, I think, having magnets between 10 - 25mm long allows the train to stop, back-up very slowly a few millimetres, which allows the uncouple to happen. This is certainly the way Kadees operate.

when pulling, they stay coupled as you go over magnets by tension using the small hook on the coupler.

I think most forms leave it the member to set his/her options under settings - I know the 8-9 forums I use all have that option.
