Many people donít like railway modelling, they just want to take it out of a box and run it. Shame really. Adding your own touch, even a few lamp irons, is very rewarding.

The culmination of a rather stupid brain fart and a few photographs of similar rattlers has resulted in the advancement of a lovely project I have affectionately dubbed "Project Turd Polish". I have taken the hornby 4 wheeler and chopped up the underframe and added detailing to then ends to make a workmens/light railway carriage. Ive also filed the roof line down to a more archaic outline.

So, was it a success? Yes and no. The body is quite adaptable however the underframe is horrendously over scale and adds a good few mm to the overall height. I think if there are any more I will be scratchbuilding a new one to more realistic dimensions to knock the height down.
It's all gone a bit ThamesLink
