Default Bending a Peco point!

I was watching the latest Everard Junction - which covered track laying, and Richard said that just occasionally the track geometry will not allow a point to fit where you want it. Taking a right-hand point, Richard cut all the webbing on the "inside" of the curve, this allowed a degree of bending to take place, and it of course fitted perfectly. Has anyone tried this?
