Greedy...not at all, I've just started an 00 gauge layout with an 0 gauge one lurking in the background.

I have an N with the OO above it.
It is difficult some times to know which one to work on, both are still in early stages

The only real issue is of trying to keep up with what you already have. I have found that to do more then one usually means one will be put on hold and the other concentrated on. It is not that it is intended this way.
Also, if one wants to just run trains for fun a nice test track which uses more then one gauge and scale is an idea. Many club layouts have something along these lines.
We all have a preferred scale and gauge, and some of us have more then one. For me 7mm narrow gauge goes well with also having 00 gauge, as my narrow gauge uses up spare chassis and bits like track from my 00 gauge items. That way less goes to waste. For me, if I have a wagon that is too scrappy for 00 gauge, it can have a rebuild (If needed) and a repaint with fitting new couplings, and it finds a new use in 7mm narrow gauge.
