Default MTH GE ES44AC with pro sound

For xmas, my lady wife , with the help of our son, in the states, has purchased on of these superb locos. I am aware that it can only be programmed on the main track, and its DCS system, is not totally compatible with DCC. My question, is, can i programme/ run it with the Hornby Elite, and if so, says he, with fingers crossed, is there anything i should know. I am aware that it will work fine with Prodigy Advance, but am trying to avoid a change of controller, if poss. john

Watched one on utube and it sounded very tinny. Maybe it is my hearing aids.

Interesting, they are supposed to be the cats whiskers, of all locos. May be its the build, not the sound. Will not be able to comment till xmas day. john

Certainly looks the Bee Knees John. Difficult to make a comment on the sound when it comes over the PC speakers. Exhaust is impressive - not sure about the running lights along the side. But, lucky you. R-

Then John, you are better placed to comment than I am. I just have the standard Mac speakers and I thought it sounded quite good. R-

I watched it on the TV played through my Bose speakers. Sounded fine, well as fine as a sound loco can sound.

Strange designed loco. What is the idea of the odd shaped rear?

well, it sounds magic through our bose speakers, when connected to the laptop. I know little about MTH apart from their dreadful price, but my lad stateside assured heather that they were up with the best, and she has wanted a loco, with the american horn/ whistle, since we spent so much time at american level crossings, watching and listening to them, trundle by. Decoder, is built in, and everything i have read, praises build quality. Now, if only it will work with the Elite, as it looks like i have to program it on the main track. john
