Default Upside down photos

I uploaded a couple of 10 photos the other day. For some reason a couple of then showed as upside down, although the originals were not. I just noticed another member's pictures have the same issue. Reuploading fixed it. Any ideas?

As a suggestion, in the edit options, it would be good to have a rotate option.

Were the photos taken on an Apple device?

Photos taken on an iPad will be upside down if the home button is on the left when the picture is taken.

I found out a few years ago that digital pictures have a lot of information stored within them that is not part of the picture itself but rather about the picture. This is called Exif Data and contains things like date it was taken etc. With the right software, which you can obtain for free, you can view and edit a whole table of information. One of the items deals with which way up the picture should be displayed, and this can be changed. Some image display software will use this and others will ignore it. That's why sometimes you will see the image the "wrong" way round.

If you want to explore more you could do worse than start HERE.

Very interesting. I have this iPad I'm using that way round just now and when I looked for the camera lens, it's on the bottom right.

Mine has home button on the right and lens and all other buttons top left. Photos always the correct way up on the forum.

If the lens is at the bottom you are more likely to put your hand over it.......apparently

Me too, if the Home button is on the left when I take the picture it comes out down side up.

Has anyone go a simple way of sending an iPad photo to a pc.

My phone can do it via Bluetooth but Mr Apple's device is loath to share, except by email.

I use a cloud. Send the photo to a cloud, not sure if it works on sunny days, then download from the cloud onto my laptop.

Ha ha? The rule of thumb is you should keep an index of your finger gallery.
