Hunslet is on a distinguished road

Hi all.
The T1 is one of my favorites too.
I have never seen any American 00 but at the recent Train Collectors exhibition at Leicester there was a British 00 system which used 18mm track which dated back to the 30s or 40s ! Made by "Hugar" who also supplied wooden model buildings.
The track was wooden ( like Brio) with inset aluminium rails and was electrically operated on the two rail system which was rare for those days.
The trains were of the Southern Electric type made of solid wood with paper decoration on the sides !
The motor ( Which took about 7 amps ) was fitted into a carved out cavity with a roof hatch and drove one axle through a large worm wheel.
Totally weird.
The owner in previous years had shown an "Ever ready" set made by the battery company which I had seen before as a school friend had one. I think this was 16.5mm gauge and was a model of London underground stock.
Regards. Colin
