Hi Andrew

The only issues I know about the Wrenn Ringfield motors is when you tighten the top nut do not over tighten and do not over oil any over oiling will run down the motor and foul the carbon brushes. The motors are simple to remove strip down clean rebuilt oil and replace. Try not to leave the magnet on its own for to long

I would check that there are springs and carbon brushes in the two tubes first, they are under the two covers one has the wire from the wheel pick ups attached to it ( the brushes can wear away with out being noticed) The go on from there.
