Thanks for that input Stephen. It gave me a little more confidence to tackle the 'band' next to the cap.
I think they may be different but only superficially so. The band was tight and required toothed grips to make it give way. It was also tight to remove the electronic bits inside as well. I now have to find a way of turning the camera lens through 90 degrees. I would not mind you telling me how that can be achieved without disturbing the 10 or 11 copper circuits between lens and PCB. I do have a micro SD card reader that couples to the USB so all ok there, although I'm ok with the cable.
I think that this is a great idea for the smaller gauge models .
Jim.

Oh I can feel like a Blue Peter presenter by saying here's one I made earlier. Someone asked me the same thing, so I recorded a short video. It's on YouTube but unlisted. The link is https://youtu.be/8JR3C-_iY8U I hope that gives you all you need but, of course, please do ask if you have any further questions. Stephen

Thanks for the link and video Stephen, a great help indeed. I will be very careful with it but I have found that with age I seem to have lost a lot of dexterity that I owned. No-matter I can but try . I will be as gentle as I can be .
Jim.

It’s the end of April and time for the monthly update looking at the work I have been doing in addition to the scenic work around Grey Havens station and the vicarage https://youtu.be/CnKVtKB-rkc

Thanks for the link and the info Stephen. I have got as far as having 'gently teased off' the lens. However there is insufficient length in the connectors (silvered copper strips) to allow the lens to sit an appropriate angle to view the road/rails ahead. I will need to file a little off the top to lessen that angle. That bit can wait though as the bigger idscenes for the back scenes I'd ordered came in the post and I may do them first.
Thanks again for a good project.
Jim.

In this video, the second of a two part series, I complete the scenic work in building a garden for the vicarage. Very pleased with the outcome and not a little jealous of the vicar who gets to live in the house and enjoy his garden. https://youtu.be/Ea8kEe3wgDk

Having completed the garden of the vicarage it was time to do things for other parts of the layout. Here is the May monthly update.https://youtu.be/XG_phowIHlo

It is time to attempt renumbering an engine for the first time. In this the latest video from my channel I show what happens when man, quip and t-cut meet 60537 Bachelors Button https://youtu.be/G7cAHpwgNzM
