the Class 50 though can be pre-ordered at £144 and that was just a quick check at one retailer.

DTB, agree, if they provide enough to meet Pre orders, but the only guaranteed supply, is from Hornby direct. That was the problem before. A lot of people, had their cash returned from retailers, and no loco. I was one. You may pay a tad more, but you WILL, receive your pre order.

I am presuming that the relaunched collectors club will continue its 10% discount - if so it’s worth ordering from Hornby at the discounted price which, in the past, Hornby have honoured even if the final rap has increased.
Can’t remember which loco it was but last year I preordered an £85 loco (Railroad) and paid only £75 but the rrp was increased to £95 on release.

I fancy the TTS wagon. Have provisionally, pre ordered, given the price of a normal wagon, it is, to my mind, not expensive. john

Hatton’s tell me that some of the TTS decoders should be available next month.

I cant use hattons, other than by post, since they changed to DHL They refuse to deliver to us, claiming that they cannot find us. Every day at 09.30, their van drives past the end of our road. We are 600 yards down the road. We have sent a google earth map to their depot, but franchisee, still refuses. Taint just them, DPD, and Chronopost, are the same. French couriers, hire, self employed guys, give them too many parcels, and an impossible timetable. All this has occurred in last 12 months. Before then, they all found us. john

But you are still not regretting the move.

I pre-ordered from Hornby for the guaranteed price I mentioned earlier - I noticed yesterday that Hatton’s were only giving ‘guide price with an option to cancel’ on the Bachmann new releases.

God, no, wish i had done it a lot earlier. When you buy from uk, or usa, etc,, by post, when item hits france, it goes into massive hanger in Paris. There is then a divi up, one parcel for collissimo, one for Chronopost, one for La poste. So anyone of 3 firms can bring it. Even, Marks and Spencer, wont find us. I looked at hattons, and a couple of others. Nobody will give a guarantee, that you will get your loco, or what the final price will be. I also pre ordered the 5 car Brighton belle set. I thought that was cheap, given the price they want on ebay for the 2 car sets. I have the 5 car Blue and white, and paid almost same price for that. Having travelled on it every night for 2 years, it has a place in my memories. john
