I share your frustration! It's done because there is no suitable deterrent/punishment (as for most crimes in this country).

I think the answer is no one knows. When I was a youngster all I wanted to do was create things, build models make a sledge build a shed I used to get frustrated because I was sometimes a bit too ambitious and also lacked tools to do the work with.
Unfortunately today it seems that many youngsters just want to do the opposite and just destroy things. |

Yes Old Shed but you were normal. The idiots who do this sort of thing are far from normal. They need sending to work camps for a very long time and be made wish they had never been born. And bring back the cane as well.

There's nothing new in this - graffiti was found adorning the walls of Herculaneum when it was first excavated. You can even get it for your model railway from scalemodelscenery.com
DC017-OO Large Graffiti Decals – OO/4mm/1:76 A carriage shed is a top priority for any preserved line.

Yes I know you can get graffiti for and on models. Just like all the programs on TV are full of violence and murder. It is no wonder that kids growing up think it is normal. Say no more. It is the adults who are sick presenting the world in that light. A Birmingham Head master recently summed it up very well. He said most of the parents are juvenile and not grown up them selves.

Your right PJB - there is no deterrent. When I was a kid/teen, if you did something wrong you got a clip round the ear, even at school. If you do that today, the teacher gets the sack and the parents get some out of proportion compensation payment. The problem nowadays is there are too many "dogooders" - life in prison should be so bad you never want to go back. If someone like the graffiti artist/s are caught and there young - there parents should be forced to pay for the repair/restoration - nothing like the wrath of an angry parent. I worked for a number of years with people prosecuting benefit fraud - you get caught having fiddled, say £20k, you don't go to prison, you get ordered to pay back £1 a week - it's a joke. Sorry for the rant.
