I think the prices are being set by a computer program.

@ Cudworth. May I suggest a "smiley" to ensure folk realise you are joking. R-

Maybe he is not joking? Actually one probably finds automatic computer calculated pricing systems worked out specifically to keep an even flow of sales throughout the year. Where I used to work, traditionally there was a lull about this time of year in the trade, but the large retail chainstore had no lull as it reduced prices to such low levels that we struggled to cope. There was no such recuperating for staff or the store!

The only way to get a bargain on fleebay is to put a bid on . Only what you want to pay if it go's over that price let it go. There will be more on there in a few day's time then try again. I will never go over what i think it's worth.

That would hold true for retailers, not private sellers who are selling their own items at prices they themselves determine. R-

Now I am no expert selling on E-bay because I am only mainly a buyer.
Some time ago I had a Nikon F and a couple of Nikkor lenses to sell and when listing them Ebay offered a sugested selling prices for the listings. So Cudworth is quite right they do offer sugested selling prices sometimes. Dont know if that happens all the time but it happened with my Nikon stuff. I must say I could not believe the money I got for them. Much more than I expected. I listed by the way, how much I wanted not what Ebay sugested at the time. Which was less.

It used to be the norm to look at similar items that had sold recently to give you an idea what you might expect to get for an item.
eBay now has a built in algorithm to calculate recent average prices for the terminally lazy.
