Default Axel Counter

Has anyone built one of these? I'm looking to construct one for G Scale so guessing it would be the same as an O Gauge one.

I have all of the electronics for inputs to computer and TrainController software can take care of the logic and counting.

The idea is to have one at the beginning and end of a section of track to check the number of axels which entered is the same as the number which leaves. If not TrainController can stop the train in question and block access to adjacent tracks to prevent commissions with any derailed stock.

It takes a good 5 minutes to untangle and re-rail everything when two garden trains collide and the power of a dragged car can rip anything from the line side and drag it along.
