Hello Pannier Tank, I have loosely located the layout where the real Sproston is, as I wanted an ex GWR/LMS mix, but other past options considered have been Shropshire, Worcestershire, North Wales and Devon. Hopefully the ex GWR ldentity can be seen in the colourscheme and type of fences, buildings, signals, signs etc.
Regards
SIGTECH.

Default Sproston - continuing the story.

Hello again, continuing from where I left off, the layout is divided into five DC power feeds, with seven isolating sections - four are at the end of the hidden sidings, one on each road. The others are located at the end of the bay platform, the entrance to the locoshed, and at the turntable. They can isolate a spare loco, or they can prevent a train driving into the bufferstops if the operator is distracted and forgets... however, they will not stop a long vehicle ( e.g cl121 'bubblecar' ) with pickups on both bogies from hitting the buffers - ask me how I know!!
The rolling stock total has over the years grown , and I have enough to run the full timetable that I only recently devised for the layout. It now stands at 75 items: locos, coaches, npccs, and freight rolling stock.
To hold all this lot, I ended up putting a roof on the fiddle yard, and laying 4 more 3' long non-powered storage lines, which helps - but its still not enough, so I have added an additional 3' non powered line ontop of my storage unit next to the layout. - This also has the Bachrus Rolling road and a Woodlands Scenics 'Tidytrack' wheel cleaning track on it.
Well, I think that wraps it up for now, more capers will be revealed in a later episode.
Regards
SIGTECH.

Well I am surprised, will have to look more closer next time. I thought they could do all this remotely these days with the help of cameras. Thank you.

They certainly donít have signal boxes alongside many barriers today. Signal boxes are very few and far between.

Too true - at the start of my railway career I witnessed the demolition of Ely North Junction, Ely Dock Junction and Ely Station North signalboxes - very sad!!
