Ok so I have been playing around with the design a little and would appreciate more pairs of eyes to pick out the most likely problems electrically, and operationally.

Basically, anything inside the green area will be the scenic area so anything west, south and east of green is non-scenic. The top is the front aspect of the layout (low level). The green line is effectively the back-drop.

I'm not sure yet if the red central area will be sidings/depot or a station area. Most likely station I guess as the raised area to the right of it will likely be buildings, shops etc.

On Helix 1, I can't get the blue and pink lines to meet but in reality they will

The blue and yellow tracks will be high level (7" I think).

From the fiddle area, a train will emerge via the bridge.

Along the blue track, trains will disappear behind buildings. Same for trains on the yellow track, they will emerge from behind the buildings.

Time for a pint of Nigerian Lager now

Getting close to finalising the layout plan now. Maybe just a few tweaks here and there but essentially as attached.

The black line represents the back scene so anything outside of that line is to be non-scenic.

Probably making a start on board construction this weekend. I have already cut the legs to size and have bought adjustable feet that will screw into one end of each so as to allow me to get the layout level. Although the new concrete floor is relatively level, there may well be small dips which I can compensate for.

The new shed for the ride on mower and garden tools failed to turn up on 13th July as promised and despite ordering it on 29th May, they could not give me an expected new delivery date so I cancelled it and got my money back.

I'm now having a 13ft x 7ft stable built instead and it is being built on Monday

So once up, I can then relocate things like the ride on mower, the push mower, scaffold boards, garden tools etc to the stable and will then have a free area for the layout.

Board construction is under way but I've come to a grinding halt already as the supplier of the adjustable feet only packed 10 instead of 20.

I guess a few days waiting won't do any harm.

Board construction back on track (excuse the pun) now that the additional feet have arrived and the main structure is now complete.

5 boards independent of each other and held together with split pin hinges.

Dry run of the track plan started today.

Looks good so far - it certainly is an amazing amount of space. R-

That's looking really good and coming along nicely.

Incredible amount of space. The hooded glowing figure in the first picture is a bit spooky.

I need to start thinking about a name for the layout.
