Default National Railway Museum

We had a day out yesterday and decided to go to the National Railway Museum at York. I hadn't been for many years and wanted to see what was new. My wife was OK with it but, for her, we booked afternoon tea in the 'Countess of York' carriage. What a really well done spread. Beautiful setting, fantastic service and amazing food. I thought it was all a bit 'dinky' until she asked us if we wanted any more sandwiches and promptly gave us another complete platefull!

I thought it looked a bit expensive to start with but, when you take into account the fact that you pay nothing to get in and, if you have afternoon tea you even get reimbursed your £10.00 parking it all seems pretty reasonable.

I think they do an amazing job there and I hope you all one day get a chance to visit.

Just a couple of shots of Mallard and the Dynamometer car.

My missis can sniff out a cream tea at 1000 paces!! Seriously though it gives you both a reason to dress up a bit and enjoy a little bit of style without spending a fortune and it gains you loads of brownie points.

Glad you had good day at York. 4468 looks wonderful does she not. Last time I was there I was able to have a sit in 4468s Drivers seat and I felt like the king of the road.................... John

Mallard looks absolutely amazing and is a credit to the Museum for keeping her looking not only stunning but also in fully operational standard.

The NRM is an amazing place. We try to get up there every couple of years.
