They are like Marmite! Personally I dislike them, as there is only one way to keep rail tops and wheels clean, that's IPA or Meths applied via a lint free cloth! BTW...IPA is not the beer its Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% type.

Oh and never use the standard Relco on DCC!

I tried a Relco unit some years ago on my (then) layout, but found that it was quite a useless alternative to wiping or rubbing the track clean, & after seeing no difference in running reliability I ditched it for the Peco track rubberfor stubborn bits, & "Rail Zip" for general use. I'm now back to isopropanol for general use, applied to the pads on the wagon marketed by Ten Commandments. Isopropanol can be obtained via EBay, But it appears to have disappeared from Pharmaceutical wholesalers lists. A tip that I have found useful with the track rubber; cut a groove in the end of the rubber. It forms a useful tool for cleaning point blades, etc.

There is a list of regulations as long as your arm for industrial alcohol. Maybe that's why many outlets no longer stock it?

Certainly is. Not knowing quite what I was doing when I purchased some I got 5 litres. Four and a half years later I swear I've still got 4˝ ltrs. left. R-

Yep! I know what you mean about 4.5 litres remaining. I have recently purchased 500 mls, but fortunately found that the cleaning fluid for Braun shavers consists mainly of Isopropanol, so I have refilled one of their containers with this fluid (may add a little after shave as perfume). If anyone is interested,I'll let you know how I get on.
