The insulation is almost done now. To keep costs down I didn't use Celotex as planned. Firstly I covered the walls and ceiling with thermal insulation foil roll. The walls are then covered with 75mm thick Knauf Earthwool cavity slabs over which there is a vapour membrane as advised by Knauf who were very helpful. The floor and ceiling will be polystyrene insulation with a gap between the foil and the poly in the ceiling. All of this will then be boarded over with ply except for the floor which will have 18mm T&G moisture resistant chipboard flooring on top of which will be laminate boards with underlay.

I'v avoided the electrics touching the poly by shielding it (rightly or wrongly) with some of the silver foil.

As I've been doing it I have noticed it getting snugger in there so fingers crossed it will all be ok. Just underestimated how long it would take especially as I can only fit it in when I can.

That's an impressive looking fish tank setup there Jamie.

I noticed that when placing my insulation too.

Certainly worth the effort put into it.
