Very true Brian.

Can you see where I repaired the horn? And Iíll do a better job than Dapol did with the new stainless steel numbers/letters Iíve ordered. It looks like they snipped them from an etch but didnít file off the tags that were left on.

It is a beast Barry. Found this video clip showing its original construction.
Interesting that it was outshipped at the same time as ĎSir William Stanierí - I suppose iíll have to hunt down one of those now.

One fantastic comment from the film: ďthe roof and panels are sprayed with asbestos for insulation and sound proofingĒ.

All real Loco's had fibre glass roofs due to the over head lines 27Kv could make a real mess of the wiring loom on a loco....

Lovely youtube video. At the "handover" towards the end, I've never seen so many guys with hats (hombergs? - my dad used to wear one).
