Default Plastic drive gears for ringfield motor black 5

As above please. The motor is good but gears do not mesh with the tender drive.
The Locomotive is an odd one as no maker is stamped on it anywhere just a series of indistint numbers ending in/F859-0560 The loco number is shown as 5112. I am assuming Hornby late 70's or early 80's

Any help please?

Best Regards

Paul

Peter Spares should have the gears or parts you need. I am not sure what gears are not meshing as it as I cant see it. Sort out what parts from the Hornby service sheet and order from somebody like Peter Spares. Complete set of motor gears are about 7, clips extra if needed but all these items should be available.

Afraid not the loco has different motion and the tender has no flanges on the middle wheels. Thanks for the reply though

Hi Paul178, You could send me the photo but to get the problem solved quickly may I suggest.
It sounds to me that if the gears do not mesh the loco has a lot of ware and will need quite bit of repair work. By the time you have bought spares if that is the case have look on ebay. The Black 5 is one of the most prolific locos for sale and I have just looked at a very nice one indeed which is buy it now 35 or make an offer. It has box and looks very good condition and is working fine. That sounds like a good deal to me. Time you buy spares and get yout one repaired you may end up spending that much anyway.

Hi again Paul. Forgot to say the gears may not mesh because the back to back adjustment of the wheels have widened.. Check that first before you do anything. John
