Mountain Goat is an unknown quantity at this point
Default High level layouts.

Seen a few lovely high level layouts on YouTube. The idea is a good one as one only really needs good back scenes and bring the locos to the fore, as the boards need to have a shallow depth. The length of run is the advantage as the layout can go over doorways and windows etc. The main safeguard needed is something to prevent derailed trains crashing to the floor!
Shelf layouts seem to work best in 7mm scale as larger seems to come to close to most ceilings and smaller is less visible, though nothing stopping one building from either extreme in scale! Go for it! Just make protection incase a train should fall.

The trouble with layouts like this is dust and cobwebs.

Yes, the model shop at Snetterton market (next to race track) has one like that.
