Hi WTD
The last time I saw the queen I was so taken with emotion I took my hat off, shouted 'Hurrah, and waved said hat around. Did it three times in all.
You won't believe it but she waved back!!!

I’m also a big supporter of the Royals and have been fortunate enough over the years to have met most of them. They all – including the Queen – were really warm, welcoming and down to earth.

During a ‘Sods Opera’ (a show put on by the ships company for the ships company) on one ship Prince Charles was roped into a so called magic sketch which went wrong and ended up with his watch being smashed – the one he said mummy gave him for his 21st – The Captain was mortified and sat in disbelief as he saw his career going down the tubes! Much to the Captains relief though the whole thing was setup by Charles who played along brilliantly.

I saw the Royal Train not long ago - it was very late at night (11.30pm) when it crept through Woking station. I was very surprised to see that it had bunk-beds - I wonder who sleeps up top?

Wouldn't they be the staff accomodation?

I would expect the Royal accommodation to be rather more comfortable.

While in the RAF at Lyneham and Brize I worked on many prestige flights ( that's was the name for Royal flights) and the standard of the interior was completely transformed on both the Comet4c and the vc10 and was inspected by it looked like every rank up from flight commander to AOC in charge .
In later years while working at Shawbury I worked on both William and Harry helicopters and it was completely different , they where treated no different to the other pupils other than they parked there car any where they wanted and lived off base. They even shopped in tesco much to my wife amusement when she bumped into them while they were buying ready meals. What a difference a generation makes could anyone ever imagine the Queen in her early day doing that.

Didn't she do some work as a mechanic when still a princess? Sure I've seen a photo somewhere.

I am going to sell 20 or so steam locos soon. Have decided to just keep WR, heavy freight and diesels.

Once I have got some boxes etc. Iíll put them in the for sale section. Pay once youíve received the loco, my usual method.

Hope somebody shows some interest.

Default The Weather Over Here

38.3 today. Few whispy clouds. Two days ago got a brief respite. The wind
kicked up ferociously as the front moved in and laid down a dust
storm the like of which I've not seen here since '89. Followed by
a ten minute downpour that settled the dust and lowered the
temperature to 26 in a minute. Most pleasant, most rare.
