Default The fleet so far video

Heres what I've got so far. I got the Class 37 for my next repaint but I'm not sure its gonna come off. Theres some great liveries out there, but the plastic glass inserts at each end are well and truly glued in and I don't think they will come out in one piece. And I'm not masking all those little windows off, I hate masking grrr lol. So I need a new project. Watch this space. There is something quite satisfying about watching them roll around but it would definitely be improved by some scenery etc.

You can get a liquid mask for windows, paint it on then peel it off.

Very nice. I like the livery the class 37 is in already. The B.R. blue.

The largest improvement is to fill in the slot at one end at the front. Also I remember I lowered the body slightly. I can't remember how I did this, but it was very effective when I used to have a Triang version.

Yes. One end has a slot in it on the Triang versions which the Hornby versions copied but used a Ringfield motor bogie instead.. The other end does not as it has clips near the bottom of the body instead.

Aha yes, slot. Thought that was supposed to be there. Think its a Hornby one. Its by far the best runner I've got too.

I quite like the early BR green one. Would have to alter the ends though cos the middle box isn't there but theres 2 outside boxes. Like the one in the banner pic up there ^^

Hornby did later make those versions. Yours is the centre headcode version. The other type is known as the split headcode version which had small doors so staff could pass from one to another if the locos were being double headed, but in reality they were not used and the draft that came in through the doors meant that the doors were simply plated over.
I've been in the cab of a centre headcode 37 when on conductors training for working engine and coaches. We had to lift the buckeye (On the coaches) single handed without the assistance of a bar as part of the course. Anyone who couldn't do it and put the pin in by themselves couldn't pass.
I remember that there wasn't much vision out the windows to see the track in front. It was why we were being shown this in our training. The guy who trained us walked about the length of a railway coach in front of the train before we could see the hair on his head and it was more like a coach and a half length away before we could see his whole body.

OK I've managed to source some replacement windows. So a repaint is on. Would it look terribly out of place if I did an early green one with the centre headcode?
