Default Electric depot information

As above I am thinking of making a new Depot to join my diesel depot. Because my layout is based on the Caledonian sleeper I have 3 x Barbie class 90 and 86-87-92 New Caledonian livery. So I have now decided to put up catenary and post with the wires. So what could I put in the depot ? From photos on the web it just looks like sheds and sidings. How would you wash the loco ? Could you put in a

Would you have the wires up to depot doors then use a shunter to bring the loco inside without power ?

Wires go right in but they could be switchable.

Wow ! Thanks for the link Bazil, I have been thinking about the planning of the depot today and would need to put wires straight through the depot to keep the pantograph from hitting the doorway. Last thing you want to do is try and put the pantograph down under the wires. I will probably use the new Peco sets, expensive but will look the part.

This an electric depot i built for someone a while ago. Note the cut outs in the top of the doors for overhead lines.

Nice building, just got my copy of Hornby Magazine today and there is an article using Peco Cantenary how to install it which couldn’t come at a better time. It’s not going to be cheap using the Peco pack but will make it look releastic. The main problem I can see is the pantograph on the different Locos. What other buildings would you find in a electric depot ?

Much like any sheds, a workshop, perhaps a heavy repair shop, stores etc.

Just keep in mind that catenary can get in the way when cleaning track so try and make sure you have access for this, not too many building in the way.
