Thanks for the comments. Yes I have used tape (3mm). Sometimes a bit fiddly but overall the effect I wanted.

Finally finished the mimic board. I am pleased with the result as all leds work correctly. Took a bit of working out where all the wires go, however following the advice on the forum I noted down everything at each step which resulted in only changing over one set of wires to get the polarity correct. Really chuffed that I have finished something.
Where there is a silver lining there is a dark cloud. I have discovered that one of my Cobalt S points levers won't throw. Looks like something has come loose inside. The galling thing is it is in the middle of a bank so meaning taking them all apart and replacing the faulty one. You win some and lose some!
